Koas news 24 August, 2023
How does a home close to the city center and close to your study place sound? At the end of next year, new opportunities for city center living will open up, when Koas Tourula will be completed in Jyväskylä’s Tourula near the historical industrial site of the State Rifle Factory in the new Pajala area.
Koas invests heavily in comfortable and well-located new construction in the central area of Jyväskylä. In recent years, we have built bright, energy-efficient and comfortable homes for students on, for example, Kauppakatu, Pitkäkatu, and the areas of Seminaarinmäki and Kangas.
This autumn, we will start the construction of student apartments in the new Pajala area in Tourula. The work is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2024. It is only a good kilometer to Kompassi in the city centre and JAMK’s Lutakko and Rajakatu campuses. The Seminaarinmäki campus area is also only two kilometers away.
“Koas is looking forward to building such sought-after student housing in the city centre,” says Matti Tanskanen, Managing Director of Koas.
102 studio apartments and 19 two-room apartments will be completed in the seven-story Koas Tourula. The sizes of the apartments are 26.5–43 square meters. Our new housing location will also have many spaces designed for communal use by the residents.
In the lounge areas you can cook with a group of friends and watch for example ice hockey together. There are also spaces for quiet studying and saunas. Thanks to the laundry, you don’t necessarily need to equip your own home with a washing machine.
The apartment building will meet the requirements of energy class A and the property will have solar panels. Other sustainability solutions include carbon negative ceiling boards in the communal areas. The boiler in the heat distribution room is used to smooth out spikes in consumption.
The equipment level of the apartments can withstand even a more critical comparison. Each home has, among other things, underfloor heating, a French balcony, fixed lighting, a dishwasher, a fridge-freezer and a reservation for a washing machine. Each apartment also has its own storage cubicle, which makes it easier to store seasonal clothes and hobby equipment, for example.
“The students will also appreciate the sustainable lifecycle approach of the design as well as the top energy class rating of the building”, says Tanskanen.
The apartments in Koas Tourula are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. Applications for apartments will open in the autumn of 2024. Stay tuned and follow the construction journey on Koas website and social media!
